The Creative Activities and Research Presentations (CARP) Forum is held each spring in the second week of April to celebrate the research, scholarly work, and creative activities of Southern Illinois University Carbondale undergraduate and graduate students across all disciplines.

Students engaged in research, scholarly work, or creative projects are invited to present a poster and share their work with the SIU community. The forum provides an opportunity for faculty, staff, students, and the public to explore innovative projects from a wide variety of fields.

The event is sponsored by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Dean of the Graduate School and supported by the Graduate Student Professional Council and Sigma Xi.

 

2026 Forum Details

Date: Thursday, April 9, 2026
Location: Student Center, Art Alley (2nd Floor)
Format: In-person

Poster Sessions
Session 1: 9:35–10:50 a.m.
Session 2: 11:00 a.m.–12:15 p.m.

Presenter Check-In
Session 1: begins at 8:30 a.m.
Session 2: begins at 10:15 a.m.

The poster session is free and open to the public.

2026 Awards Ceremony 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Following the forum, an Awards Ceremony will be held in Old Main at the Student Center.

During the ceremony:

  • The Vice Chancellor for Research will deliver remarks.
  • REACH Award winners will be announced.
  • Awards will be presented for Best Poster Presentation in both Undergraduate and Graduate categories.

Presenters

Students interested in presenting must complete both steps by April 2, 2026.

Judges Needed

Faculty and graduate students are invited to serve as poster judges.

Judging provides an opportunity to:
  • Support student research and scholarship
  • Engage with projects across many disciplines
  • Recognize outstanding student work
