The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research invites applications under the “Susan C. Thrasher Undergraduate Research Fund.” Awardees will work with a faculty mentor on a research project during the 2025-26 academic year. At the end of their research experience they will submit a report to their mentor, and will also present a poster detailing their research or creative activity project during the Spring 2026 Creative Activities and Research Presentations forum. When these activities are completed $1,500 will be credited as a cash award to the student’s SIU statement of account. Award activities will be carried out between the first day of the Fall 2025 semester, and April 30, 2026.

The Susan C. Thrasher Award link will be available on Monday, December 1, 2025 on D2L. Go to D2L > Susan C. Thrasher Award 2026 > Assessments > assignments > to upload the 2026-2027 Susan C. Thrasher Award application. If you have any questions, email ovcr@siu.edu. The deadline will be January 26th, 2026 at 11:59 pm.
If you apply for REACH and the Susan C. Thrasher award and are an awardee you will be asked to choose which award you wish to receive as students are elligibile for one or the other of these research support awards per year.
